The Sofia District Court has permanently remanded Hristo Yordanov in custody, who filed a false report at "Vasil Levski" airport about an explosive device, bTV reported.
According to the prosecutor, 44-year-old Yordanov has thus affected both public interests and international relations in the field of air transport and the man poses a high degree of public danger. Today's court decision subject to appeal before Sofia District Court.
On August 14, 2025, the accused called a service phone at Sofia Airport and transmitted a false alarm call – reported that a woman named M.H., traveling to Slovakia, was carrying an explosive device.
The act caused significant damage – the woman was subjected to additional checks, which caused the passenger to miss her flight.
A few days ago, a man from the Plovdiv region reported that an attack was expected on a plane traveling from Sofia to London. Because of the report, the plane was diverted from Czech airspace and escorted by German fighter jets. The man has been detained.
