The young woman who was seriously injured in the traffic accident between a car and a public transport bus underwent surgery. The surgery took place today, announced the University Hospital for Medical and Social Research "Pirogov".
The surgery was performed by the traumatology team of Assoc. Prof. Mihail Rashkov. The medical institution indicates that this is the first in a series of surgeries that the patient is about to undergo. The woman remains for intensive treatment and active monitoring in the neuroresuscitation of the University Hospital "Pirogov".
A car "Audi", driven at high speed by Viktor Iliev, crashed into a public transport bus in Sofia a few days ago. One person died and four were taken to hospital after the serious accident. The driver of the car was detained, and the day before, the Sofia City Court left him permanently in custody.
Earlier it became clear that the first expert report on the accident in Sofia, in which a car crashed into a bus and killed a 61-year-old doctor from Syria, has been completed.
According to sources of BTV, confirmed by the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office, the expert report indicates that both vehicles - the car and the bus - were technically sound before the impact. However, the speed at which the car was moving has not yet been established.
The accident occurred in the early hours of August 15 on "Konstantin Velichkov" Blvd. The report was filed around 02:00. The driver's tests for alcohol and drugs were negative.
As a result of the accident, the bus driver and one of the passengers in the car were seriously injured, and they remain in critical condition and with a risk to their lives. The remaining injured, admitted to the Military Medical Academy and "Pirogov", have multiple fractures.
The 21-year-old driver of the car, who is from the capital's "Faculty" district, is also in hospital with broken ribs and an arm. He has been charged with causing death by negligence.
The inspections of the driving school where Viktor Iliev, who crashed his car into a bus and killed a person, was trained, continue, but the recordings of the theoretical and practical exams that were watched did not reveal any violations. This was stated to BNT by the executive director of the "Automobile Administration" Agency, Slav Monov.
