Today - August 19, at around 6 p.m., traffic will be restored in the direction of Sofia on the Korenishki Dol viaduct at the 36th km of the Hemus Motorway. Two lanes will be opened for traffic in the section. The finishing work on the facility will continue to be carried out in the next 2 weeks, and they will be carried out in stages in the emergency and overtaking lanes. Drivers are required to drive carefully and obey traffic signals.
We remind you that in mid-January this year, urgent work began on three facilities between the 33rd and 36th km of the highway. At the end of July, the repair work on the capital's lane of two of the viaducts was completed and traffic on them was restored. Today, work is being completed on the lower and upper structures and on the bridge at km 36. Up to this point, no repairs have been carried out on all three structures of the “Hemus“ motorway since they were put into operation in the late 1970s.
The upper and lower structures of the viaducts have been repaired. The work carried out on the upper structures includes replacing concrete slabs, laying new waterproofing, asphalt pavement, sidewalk consoles and markings. New handrails, restraint systems and road signs have been installed. The repair work on the lower structures is on the supporting structure, columns, crossbars and column steps.
The “Road Infrastructure“ Agency appeals to drivers to drive carefully and at a reasonable speed, to follow traffic rules and not to undertake risky overtaking, which endanger the safety of all other travelers. Do not use emergency lanes on highways for faster movement in heavy traffic, as they prevent the passage of vehicles with a special traffic regime in the event of an accident. The emergency lane can only be used in sections with a temporary traffic safety organization in place.
