Elevated values of toluene and xylene were recorded in July in Ruse - 1

Elevated, but not exceeded values of toluene and xylene were recorded on four days in July in Ruse, reported the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water (RIOSV) in the city.

The eco-inspection specified that the measurements were made by a Mobile Automatic Station (MAS) of the Executive Agency for Environment during the planned summer monitoring of atmospheric air quality in the city. The station was located in the yard of the Hydrometeorological Station of the Executive Agency “Research and Maintenance of the Danube River“ (IAPPD) for the period from July 15 to 26.

It completed measurements two days earlier than planned due to the fire near the village of Nikolovo, which required extraordinary monitoring of the quality of atmospheric air in the settlement, specified the Regional Inspectorate for Environment, Water and Water - Ruse. No exceedances of the average daily or average hourly air quality standards were registered.

During the entire monitoring, from the protocols received by the Regional Laboratory - Ruse, it is evident that there were no exceedances of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide, ozone and fine dust particles 10 microns, the environmental inspection also announced.

They specified that the additional analyzers with which the station is equipped are for benzene, toluene and xylene. For the atmospheric pollutants toluene and xylene, the legislation has set an average hourly (AH) and average daily (AD) maximum permissible concentration, and for benzene - an average annual.

During the period, no exceedances of the AH and AHD of toluene and xylene were found. Increased, but not exceeded values of these indicators were registered on July 15, 19, 20 and 21 in the morning and evening hours of the day. The maximum AH measured for toluene was 125 micrograms per cubic meter at a norm of 500 micrograms, and for xylene - 86 micrograms at a norm of 200 micrograms per cubic meter. The measurement protocols have been sent for analysis to the Regional Health Inspectorate - Ruse.

After the extraordinary monitoring in the village of Nikolovo, the mobile station was moved to Razgrad for planned monitoring, representative of the summer season.
