The fire crews stayed all night to monitor that the fire does not resume in the Rupite area, near the ancient city of Heraclea Sintica, the Bulgarian National Radio reported.

Dry grasses and bushes caught fire there, and the wind carried the fire to the archaeological site.

The fire has been localized. Due to strong winds and dry weather, four fires have broken out in the Petrich municipality over the past two days, and the most likely cause is human negligence.

Damage was caused to agricultural produce and perennial crops.

Emergency teams were also on duty near the Sliven neighborhood of "Komluka". There, after an illegal landfill was set on fire, a fire spread to the forest above the neighborhood.
