An accident with the Burgas-Sofia high-speed train sent two young girls to hospital after they jumped from a moving train yesterday shortly after Klisura station. The injured are a 20-year-old Bulgarian and a 21-year-old Polish woman, who were travelling together. The 20-year-old student is in life-threatening condition and has been admitted to the University Hospital "St. George" in Plovdiv. Her friend, who was also injured in the jump, has also been admitted to the same hospital, but in a different ward.
According to initial information, the two panicked after missing their stop in Klisura, where the father of one of them was waiting for them. Shortly afterwards, they decided to jump from the train, which was already gaining speed. The 20-year-old woman jumped first, followed about 100 meters below by her 21-year-old friend.
Employees working in the station area reported the incident to the police, and an emergency team was dispatched to the scene.
The causes of the incident are being investigated.
