The CEO of the German concern "Rheinmetall" Armin Paperger announced that he expects contracts to be signed with Bulgaria within three weeks for the construction of factories for the production of ammunition and gunpowder in our country.
This took place within the framework of the opening of a new production capacity of the largest defense industry concern in Europe, BNR specified.
Our head of state Rumen Radev also attended the ceremony at the invitation of Paperger. The new factory in Lower Saxony will be the largest capacity for the production of artillery shells in Europe.
The visit of the Head of State Rumen Radev to the Federal Republic comes at a time when our country is intensively negotiating with the most powerful European defense concern "Rheinmetall" to build production facilities for 155 mm shells according to NATO standards and a gunpowder factory in our country. An investment that could exceed 1 billion euros, and Bulgaria will participate with the funds that it will withdraw as loans under the European SAFE mechanism for common defense projects.
A meeting of President Radev with Armin Paperger is also planned after the end of the official ceremony. Previously, the official guests, followed by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, viewed the innovative production facilities. It is likely that the projectile factory in our country will be based on the model presented today in Underlüf, Lower Saxony. This investment is for 500 million euros, and the construction took a year and a half.
