The state has begun a phased transfer of the properties from the former railway line from "Izgrev" to the "Slatina" district, on which the Sofia Municipality has plans to build a linear park with a bike path and accompanying infrastructure to it from the "Pioner" station to the "Todor Kableshkov" Technical University.
This was confirmed on the air of BNR-Radio Sofia by the mayor of the "Izgrev" district, Dr. Delyan Georgiev. And he added:
"For us, good news and double joy, since at my suggestion and insistence, in 2020, the Detailed Development Plan of this linear park also included the construction of the first large kindergarten in the "Izgrev" district.
The district administration is ready for the construction of the kindergarten to begin, since a public procurement procedure has been carried out, and there is also funding from the Sofia Municipality.
"I believe that at the beginning of next year we will begin the construction itself," said Dr. Georgiev.
All legal objections have passed, the PUP is in force.
In the opinion of the mayor, by the end of the mandate it is entirely possible to complete the section of the linear park from "Izgrev" to "Slatina".
The Green Ring concept envisages the transformation of 30 km of unused territories in different neighborhoods and parts of the city and a plan to turn them into the largest linear park.
The ring passes along abandoned railway tracks, along rivers, parks, unused industrial and infrastructure sites and residential areas.
A large part of these terrains currently act as a natural divider between different parts of the city.
