"Currently, politicians sanctioned by our strategic partners for corruption are carrying out a brutal purge in the State Agency of National Security and are turning the service into their bludgeon. They are doing it through a nomination, for which they are offering me to issue a decree. Let them hear me clearly - this will not happen!". This was stated by President Rumen Radev to journalists in Shumen, quoted by news.bg.
He shares the opinion of Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov that a season of high political tension awaits us. I hope that those in power are aware of the critically low trust in the institutions, which is due both to their actions and to the isolation of Bulgarian citizens from making key decisions for the future of the country, Radev noted.
In his words, if the voice of the people continues to be ignored and their interests continue to be not defended, the alternative to the current government will be increasingly sought after.
In connection with the upcoming visit of the President of the EC to our country, the head of state stated that Bulgaria must build its own defense capacity and contribute to the EU's common security policy.
Regarding the ambassadors, he explained that the appointments have been coordinated. From here on, routine procedures for issuing an agrement will follow and only then will I give my signature, Radev added.
The President emphasized that he will not allow the ruling party to justify the shortcomings in their actions with the lack of a holder for the position of Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The responsibility for the quality of his work, for his political impartiality, lies entirely with the government, he added.
