At the end of the summer, when all Sofia residents are already returning from vacations and holidays, "Toplofikatsiya Sofia" began "urgent repairs" - on the same pipes, patched many times over the years. The repairs are without a plan, without prioritization and with a heavy price that we all pay. This was stated in their position by “Save Sofia“.
According to them, orders for over 250 million leva have been announced so far.
“The interim management of Toplofikatsiya, appointed by GERB and BSP, has been in power for almost a year and a half and the company continues to be in complete ruin – with debts to BEH and Bulgargaz for over 2 billion leva. This is the price of providing jobs for their ladybugs – inaction and corruption that Sofia residents pay“, said Boris Bonev, chairman of Save Sofia.
The demands of “Save Sofia“ for transparent competitions for a new management, for conducting a technical audit of the company's condition and for mandatory coordination of investments with the Municipal Council and the Sofia Municipality were blocked by the economic majority, with only their report ordering the audit being delayed by GERB and BSP for five months now. The plan for managing the swelling debt, requested by the party, was also not provided.
„It is clear why they are refusing – because there simply is no such plan. The interim management and the economic majority that supports it are afraid that people will understand the truth: „Toplofikatsiya“ has no survival strategy. What it has are opaque repairs for hundreds of millions and channels for corruption to fill the party coffers“, commented Emilia Angelova, municipal councilor.
In its position „Save Sofia“ declares that she will not stop exposing the draining of “Toplofikatsiya“. “The real miracle will be if Sofia residents have normal heating and hot water this winter“, concluded Angelova.
