Today, a joint exercise "Asparuh 2025" will be held on the territory of the port of Burgas EAD, BTA reports. From 9:00 a.m., a maritime emergency and rescue operation will be played out on the seventh ship site, the press center of the Burgas Municipality announced. The aim of the exercise is to increase readiness and coordination between institutions in the event of a maritime incident and rescuing those in distress on the high seas.
Representatives of state structures, as well as non-governmental organizations, will participate in the operation. The Ministry of Interior will be represented by the Regional Directorate "Fire Safety and Population Protection" – Burgas, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior – Burgas, the General Directorate "Border Police" and the Directorate "National System 112".
The Ministry of Defense will be represented by the Navy of the Republic of Bulgaria, and from the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center, the Directorate "Maritime Administration" – Burgas and the State Enterprise "Port Infrastructure" will participate in the exercise.
The scenarios within the exercise are in accordance with the "National Search and Rescue Plan in the Bulgarian Maritime Responsible Area for Search and Rescue" and also envisage the participation of the National Board for the Investigation of Accidents in Air, Water and Railway Transport, the Bulgarian Red Cross, Emergency Medical Care Centers, as well as the Municipality of Burgas with the Voluntary Formation A-16-01. Actions will be practiced to rescue people injured as a result of a maritime incident, provide first aid, evacuation, triage and psychological support.
The Minister of Interior Daniel Mitov and the Deputy Secretary General of NATO Radmila Shekerinska opened the emergency management exercise "Bulgaria 2025" yesterday at the airport in Erden, Boychinovtsi municipality.
