Daniel Terziev, who is being investigated for the incident with tram No. 22, will remain permanently in custody, the Court of Appeal in Sofia has decided. On September 2, the 22-year-old man caused the derailment of the vehicle, which crashed into an underpass at the Romanian Embassy, bTV reported.

No people were injured in the incident, but serious material damage was caused. According to the magistrates, there is a risk that he will abscond and commit other crimes.

They specified that the risk of absconding stems from the actions of the accused after the act - he tried to escape after the incident. The court's decision is final and cannot be appealed.

The penalty provided by law is from 5 to 15 years of imprisonment.

The 22-year-old man was convicted of theft. He committed the act during the probationary period of a previous conviction from April of this year.
