Experts on the beating in Ruse: Initially, the idea was to cover up the case - 1

“At the beginning of the case of the beating of the police chief in Ruse, versions appeared, which were refuted one after another, and the confusion regarding the official presentation of the case became increasingly greater“, commented on “This Morning“ on bTV Boyko Naydenov, former director of the National Investigation Service.

“The initial reaction of the Ministry of Interior was exaggerated. "Some statements were made too categorically, which later turned out not to correspond to reality," said Andrey Yankulov, senior legal expert at the "Anti-Corruption Fund."

He gave an example of the "loud throwing" of statements such as an attack on statehood, given that this case is not an incident that is characterized in such a way, but rather a domestic quarrel.

“This electrifies public opinion“, added Yankulov.

When asked why this case was not reflected in the information bulletin of the police in Ruse, Boyko Naydenov replied that it was not prepared when it should have been and an explanation must be given for this.

According to Yankulov, it can be assumed that the case was covered up.

“The very fact that the police officers who arrived at the scene did not detain these individuals, for me, reveals that the initial idea was for this incident not to see the light of day. But when things later developed differently due to the trauma that occurred at a later time, this was not possible and it was necessary to react to what had happened“, commented Andrey Yankulov.

According to Boyko Naydenov, the protocol for action was not followed.

“I am interested in who collected the first evidence on the spot – whether it was an investigator or an investigator. It is of great importance, since in this conflict, after an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was involved, it was necessary for an investigator to go. As far as I know, the first investigative actions were carried out by an investigator“, said Naydenov.

According to him, the detention of the four young men is unacceptable.

“There is no reason to assume that they will go into hiding. "Detention is the most severe measure of restraint, which is constantly abused," he added.

According to the two experts, it is very important to establish who took the first step.
