On September 10, the Council for Electronic Media once again showed its true face - arrogant, unceremonious and politically dependent. Instead of implementing a final court decision, CEM preferred to curse me, point fingers at me and present itself as a victim. This is not a regulator, but a party appendage that has turned its powerlessness into a theater of the absurd. This was stated by the General Director of BNT Emil Koshlukov and added:
CEM does not just violate the law - it tramples on it. When I insist on the rule of law, for them it is a “threat“. When a citizen seeks his rights in court, it is “pressure“. Yes, that's right – in their dictionary, democracy is pressure, and lawlessness is order.
Let me remind the advisors: freedom of speech is not defended with declarations and reports to foreign organizations. It is defended with a biography. Mine included four years in prison for this very freedom. I know its price. For me, these are not grants and conferences, but personal destiny.
The truth is simple - today's CEM is a tool for party control of BNT. They want to turn public television into a party radio station. I will categorically not allow it. I did not allow it to the totalitarian regime, and I will not allow it to its current successors with modern suits and empty phrases.
The CEM in its current form is exhausted, useless and dangerous. It has accumulated lawsuits, compromised itself with incompetence and blindly serving political orders. If the legislator cares about democracy, let him think about whether such a body even has a place in a modern society.
I call on the CEM: stop the farce, implement the court decision and return the law to where it belongs – above all.
