“We are making targeted efforts towards youth, towards sports, as a prevention against antisocial acts. Let the rivalry be here on the mat, not on the street“. This was called for by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov during his visit to the Sports Complex at 4th kilometer in Sofia. The Prime Minister and the Minister of Youth and Sports Ivan Peshev inspected the implementation of the construction and repair works, as well as the readiness of the hall to operate in the first days of the new year for the students of the CSKA sports school – SU “Gen. Vladimir Stoychev“.

In early August, the government allocated 2 million leva to carry out repairs and reconstruction of part of the roof space, to build a completely new wrestling hall for the needs of the two CSKA wrestling clubs in the Sports Complex. “This money has already been invested in this sports complex, which was previously an absolute ruin. All CSKA teams will train here, that is over 100 people. The development of the sports facility and sports infrastructure is also a commitment of the state“, emphasized Zhelyazkov.

Minister Ivan Peshev pointed out that the repairs are going at a very fast pace, in about 40 days most of the activities have already been completed. The goal is to save children and students from traveling to other sports facilities, so that they can invest their time and efforts in more complete preparation. “A new hall has been built using the most modern technologies for wrestling competitors. The construction activities are fully completed, the finishing works remain so that the children can enter and conduct full-fledged training from September 15,“, said the Minister of Youth and Sports. The modernization of the sports infrastructure is leading in the government program and is a priority of Minister Ivan Peshev. The remaining sports facilities and halls in the sports complex at the 4th kilometer are to be gradually restored so that the local athletes can have conditions for training.

About 5,000 sq m of roofs have been repaired - on the straight athletics track, on the boxing halls and the sanitary facilities to them, as well as the roof of the sambo and fencing halls. The straight track has been renovated, which has been converted into a wrestling hall with two locker rooms, showers and sanitary facilities, two coaching rooms, four mats and a fitness hall. The total reconstructed area is nearly 1,000 sq m. The electrical installation has been completely replaced, a new plumbing installation has been built, all windows and doors of the hall have been replaced, and the entire hall has been insulated.

The changing rooms are equipped with new lockers and benches, each bathroom has 6 showers and a sanitary facility. The entire corridor leading to the entrance to the hall has been renovated and illuminated, and a playground has been built in front of the hall door.

With the allocated funds, the full functioning of the complex has been restored. The implementation of the construction and repair activities has provided a modern and safe sports environment that meets modern standards. In this way, the government supports the training process of both students and all those wishing to play sports.
