Two candidates reached the final stage of the competition for Chief Architect of the Sofia Municipality. These are arch. Georgi Slavov and arch. Bogdana Panayotova, who were admitted to participate in an interview with a final score of at least 4 in the practical exam, according to the grading system approved by the competition committee.
Each member of the competition committee independently assessed the written assignments-case studies. The members of the committee did not know the name of the candidate whose work was being assessed. The solution to each case study was assessed against four criteria on a 5-point scale, where 1 is the lowest score and 5 is the highest. The final grade of each candidate is the arithmetic mean of the examiners' grades for each of the two case studies.
The Sofia Municipality published the case studies that the candidates had to deal with during the practical exam. It was held on March 25 and was broadcast online. To solve the case studies, the candidates were entitled to use the Spatial Planning Act (SPA) and the Law on the Planning and Development of the Sofia Municipality (ZUZSO).
The interviews with the two candidates will be held on March 31 from 10:00 a.m., at the regional center for contemporary arts “Toplotsentrala”. The interviews will be at the door and will be broadcast live on the Facebook page of the Sofia Municipality. The duration of the interview with each candidate will be up to 120 minutes. The members of the competition committee will evaluate the qualities of the participants based on their answers on a 5-point scale.
On March 31 at 10 a.m., interviews with the finalists will be held at the “Toplotsentrala”. The final results will be published on April 8. They will be based on the grades received by the candidates in the three stages of the competition - test, practical exam and interview. April 15 is the deadline for submitting an objection in case of disagreement of a candidate with the assessment of the competition committee. The act for issuing the position of chief architect is signed by the mayor of Sofia in the period 16-22 April.
