A driver of a passenger car was detained after he thwarted a police check and the car he was driving crashed into a column in the building of the police station in Hitrino, the police in Shumen announced.
At around 6 p.m. on September 13, traffic police officers monitored compliance with traffic rules in the village of Hitrino.
The driver of the passenger car with Razgrad registration noticed them, abruptly changed his direction of travel and increased his speed.
The traffic police officers followed him, gave a sound and light signal.
The driver thwarted the police check, did not stop at a "Stop" sign, hit another car sideways and left the scene of the accident.
He continued to drive in the village, and shortly afterwards his car hit a column of the police station building.
At the scene, it was established that a 35-year-old man from the village of Timarevo was behind the wheel. He did not present a driver's license, it was clarified that he was unlicensed.
He was tested for alcohol and drugs, his samples were negative. He was detained for up to 24 hours at the police station in Shumen. A rapid investigation has been initiated for a crime committed.
