At around 4:00 this night at Terminal 1 of Sofia Airport, two Bulgarian citizens got into a physical altercation. The attacker was detained and the victim was taken to hospital, the press center of the Ministry of Interior announced.
The scandal began with a verbal altercation between the two passengers, after which a 54-year-old man hit another man in the head with a bottle and with his hands on his body, the Sofia District Prosecutor's Office explained.
The act was committed with hooligan motives. The accused was not provoked by the victim and attacked him over stacks of cigarettes, the prosecutor's office said.
Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case, and a request is pending to be submitted to the Sofia District Court for the determination of a measure of “detention in custody“ against the accused.
