The Sofia District Prosecutor's Office reported a brutal beating of a man in Sofia. A 30-year-old criminal man has been detained and brought to criminal liability.
The incident occurred on September 14, around 8:00 p.m., behind a residential building in the "Geo Milev" neighborhood.
According to information from investigators, the accused attacked the 41-year-old man with repeated kicks to the back, abdomen and chest. The reason is currently unclear.
The victim has moderate bodily injury – He had four broken ribs and air had collected in his chest cavity (a medical condition known as pneumothorax).
A pre-trial investigation has been initiated into the case for causing moderate bodily harm, for which the law provides for up to 6 years of imprisonment.
The accused has a criminal record and has already been convicted. Due to concerns that he may commit another crime, he was detained for 72 hours. A supervising prosecutor has filed a request with the Sofia District Court for the defendant's permanent arrest.
