The Greek police are investigating a strange case of theft committed by a Bulgarian woman hired as a domestic helper in Athens. This was reported by NOVA.
According to the testimony of a 43-year-old man from the Glyfada neighborhood, who hired the woman through a Facebook group, the incident occurred on September 12.
The owner of the apartment spoke to the 50-year-old woman several times to arrange a meeting with her. At around 7:00 p.m. he went to the nearby tram stop to pick her up and take her to his home.
„I had posted an ad on Facebook looking for a woman to clean my house. For the first 2-3 hours she cleaned and I was calm because I was watching basketball and had a glass of wine. This woman managed to pour some kind of narcotic substance into my glass. I didn't see her do anything suspicious, but I know that with a glass of retsina you can't fall into a state of lethargy. I started to feel sleepy, extremely tired and went to my room to go to bed. I soon lost consciousness. I slept for about 40 minutes and when I woke up, about 300 euros and my mobile phones were missing. I also had a piggy bank with small change. In total, about 600 euros were missing. The mobile phones were not particularly valuable, some perfumes were also taken", the victim said.
"When I woke up, I went to the neighbors and asked for help. They had never seen me in such a state. I asked them to call the police, I had never used drugs. At that moment I realized that this was probably some kind of scheme by people who do drugs and steal", the 43-year-old man claims.
The Bulgarian woman categorically denies that the accusations are true.
The case is being investigated by the police. Toxicological tests are expected to determine the substance that may have been put in the wine.
