The District Court in Vratsa set a bail of 3,000 leva for a man accused of causing a fatal accident. In the incident that occurred at the end of October, 18-year-old Evgeni from Kozloduy died.
The decision of the magistrates caused sharp indignation among the relatives of the victim. According to information cited by NOVA, the accused driver has 24 acts for violating the Road Traffic Act. Evgeni's sister wrote an emotional letter to the court with a desperate appeal for justice and responsibility.
The tragedy took place between 4 and 5 am on October 26. The young man was walking home when he was fatally hit on the road. The accused was detained hours after the incident, but was released on bail days later.
"We are all devastated by what happened and we want to know the truth most of all. Evgeni's life is not worth 3,000, 30,000, or 300,000”, said a friend of the deceased.
A friend of the deceased's family added that "to this day it is not clear in what condition he was driving".
According to media reports, one of the court's reasons for determining the light measure is that the driver is supported by his parents. Another motive is that he cooperated with the investigation authorities.
Evgeni's sister firmly stated that she will fight for justice so that other families do not have to go through the same tragedy.
