A young man from Parvomay received 1 year and 4 months in prison for entering the home of his 68-year-old relative in the middle of the night and trying to rape her.
He was found guilty by the District Court in the city, and will also have to pay the costs of the case in the amount of 2,186.60 leva.
The victim lived with her daughter, sleeping on different beds in the same room. After midnight on April 22, she woke up because she felt someone was on top of her.
She opened her eyes and saw an 18-year-old teenager, who was her brother's grandson. He was naked to the waist, pulled off her duvet and threw it on the floor.
Despite her resistance, the young man pulled up her skirt, and she screamed for help. The attacker covered the woman's mouth with one hand and squeezed her breasts with the other. He asked to sleep with her several times and hit her.
The daughter woke up from the screams, got up and turned on the light, which angered the teenager. He started shouting at her to turn it off, and she approached the bed and hit him several times, shouting at him to leave her mother. The attacker got up and went to the door to prevent the two women from leaving the apartment.
The victim told him that she agreed to do whatever he wanted, but they had to go somewhere else. He backed away and the women managed to escape to their neighbors. The 18-year-old ran away in an unknown direction.
The victim called 112 and police officers arrived at the scene, to whom she told what had happened. They inspected her two-story house, then headed to the address of the attacker's father, who they knew was not on good terms with his son and did not let him into his home. At around 3:15 a.m., they jumped the fence and entered the yard, where they found the attacker sleeping in a greenhouse.
Initially, the young man told them that he had been in the village of Gorski Izvor and denied having been to the victim's home, but later admitted that he had done nothing there. The police detained him and took him to the District Office.
A medical examination found numerous injuries on the victim's body. There were no specific marks on the attacker. After reviewing the evidence, the Parvomay District Court decided that the fairest sentence was 16 months in prison, reports 24 Hours.
The sentence is subject to appeal and protest before the Plovdiv District Court.
