"Blago's case is coming to Varna with a last-minute decision by the Supreme Court of Cassation. He is expected to be escorted to the seaside capital in the coming days. The request to clarify jurisdiction was submitted by the judge in Blago's case in Sofia - Snezina Koleva - yesterday". This was announced by those close to the arrested mayor of Varna, Blagomir Kotsev, quoted by "Focus".
And they add: "The decision of the Supreme Court of Cassation was made immediately, this afternoon. The main motive is the lack of an established deputy in the case and procedural actions to attract him as a defendant, as well as the fact that all witnesses and defendants in the case are from Varna".
"Focus" recalls that earlier today it became clear that the District Court in Varna will hear the case against Blagomir Kotsev and the remaining four defendants. The Varna court is to rule on the request to change Blago's measure from November 7.
Those close to the mayor specify that his defense requested such a review even in the pre-trial phase, but instead the prosecutor's office "rushed" to file an indictment, which is why Blago was transferred to prison.
"He has been deprived of a new chance to gain freedom for the second week. The truth is that the political conspiracy against Blago fell apart at the first contact with the professionalism of the senior magistrates, and the spontaneity of the events is only confirmation of the absurdity of the case in Sofia, which turned out to be a mere facade for political self-dealing", his relatives commented on the mayor's Facebook profile.
And they add: "Blago should not spend another minute in custody. Varna expects its mayor to be at his workplace, and his family to see him alive and well at home.
