Ten of those detained for the riots in downtown Sofia are appearing in court, BNT reports. They are currently in custody for a period of 72 hours. The prosecutor's office is expected to request their permanent detention.
The charges against them are for hooliganism with extreme cynicism and audacity. According to the prosecutor's office, the accused threw stones, pyrotechnics and glass bottles at police officers. They turned over garbage containers and took various objects from them, which they threw at the police cordon.
Six of those detained have previous criminal records. Two have been convicted of driving under the influence of drugs and of trafficking in refugees. Two others have pending pre-trial proceedings.
