A specialized operation today prevented property fraud for hundreds of thousands of levs in connection with a property in the Sofia neighborhood of “Malinova Dolina“. This was announced at a briefing by Kristiyan Kostov, deputy head of the “Economic Police“ department at the Sofia Internal Affairs Directorate, BTA reports
In a property purchase and sale transaction, documents were presented to a notary that raised doubts about their authenticity. The notary filed a report, and investigators found that the notarial deed did not exist in the archives of the Registry Agency. The area of the property is about 760 sq. meters.
Two people were arrested in the case - a 49-year-old woman who is not known to the Ministry of Interior, and a 52-year-old man with multiple police records. They were detained for up to 72 hours, and the investigation materials were reported to the prosecutor's office.
Kristiyan Kostov pointed out that the Ministry of Interior authorities carry out constant surveillance on people of operational interest in relation to property fraud and interact closely with other control bodies and institutions.
