A Moroccan man who lived in Novi Iskar was kidnapped and held captive for several days with a sack over his head, while his kidnappers withdrew 94,000 leva from his bank accounts, writes "Trud".
The case dates back to July 3 of this year, but was revealed yesterday by Sofia forensics. A total of four people are in custody - two Bulgarians and two Syrians.
A third Syrian is wanted, and the sixth participant - a Moroccan woman, remains at large on a 3,000 leva bail.
The 42-year-old foreigner had the status of a permanent resident in Bulgaria. When he was released after 3 days of captivity, he complained to 112.
He said that he had been attacked and forcibly taken out of his home by three of the group. They put a sack over his head and put him in a car. They took him to three different places, which were later determined to be a house in Sofia, an apartment in Pernik, and a villa in the Sofia village of Thompson.
When he was captured, the kidnappers took his wallet with his bank cards, as well as his mobile phone, on which he had an online banking application installed. They tortured him until he gave his passwords and PIN codes and withdrew all his money.
According to forensic experts, this money has now been converted into cryptocurrencies.
The reason for the kidnapping, harassment, and robbery were unresolved accounts between foreigners. This is the second serious case of a massacre of Moroccans in our country.
Last year, a Moroccan migrant man and a woman were kidnapped from the Harmanli refugee camp and held captive by Syrian brothers. They raped the woman and demanded a ransom from the victims' relatives in their homeland. A case is being prosecuted in Haskovo against the Syrian rapists.
