An Italian citizen has been charged and detained for up to 72 hours for a series of thefts from a commercial outlet at Terminal 2 of Sofia Airport. This was announced by the Sofia District Prosecutor's Office.

According to the prosecutor's office, for a period of nearly two months – from November 24, 2025 to January 19, 2026, the woman committed five separate thefts under the conditions of a continuing crime. She took jewelry, cosmetics and underwear worth a total of EUR 4,193.50 from a store at the capital's airport.

The investigation found that the criminal acts were committed on different days and times, with all cases registered on the territory of Terminal 2 of Sofia Airport. After collecting sufficient evidence, the accused, with the initials V.T., was brought to criminal responsibility.

The Sofia District Prosecutor's Office specifies that pre-trial proceedings are underway in the case, with the punishment provided by law being "deprivation of liberty". The woman does not have a permanent address for residence in Bulgaria, which is why a request is pending to the Sofia District Court for the imposition of a preventive measure "detention in custody".
