A 15-year-old youth from Novi Pazar has been detained for stealing a car, the police in Shumen inform. At around 9:45 this morning, a resident of Kaspichan stopped in front of a grocery store in the city. He left the car with the engine running.
Even before entering the store, he saw the car drive off. A signal was immediately sent via 112. The man reported that the driver was visibly a young boy and was moving towards the exit of the city.
The signal was sent to all teams. Minutes later, in Novi Pazar, police officers spotted the car in the central part of the city. They gave a sound and light signal to the driver, but he did not stop, accelerated and continued.
He was followed by the teams, and a little later the traffic police managed to stop him in a way that would not create the conditions for accidents with other road users.
When stopping, they found that a 15-year-old local resident was behind the wheel, and next to him in the right seat was another 13-year-old boy - also from Novi Pazar.
After committing the theft, the minor passed by one of the schools in Novi Pazar, picked up a friend and they decided to go for a ride.
His tests for alcohol and drugs were negative. The boy has no criminal record, but there is evidence that he was driving his friend's father's car.
He was detained for up to 24 hours at the Novi Pazar police station. Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated. The car has been returned to the owner.
