The Sofia City Court questioned a key witness in the case of the serious accident in the "Hristo Botev" neighborhood, in which a father of 3 children died. The defendant in his death is 19-year-old Valentin Asenov, who was driving under the influence of drugs. The witness was riding in the front seat next to Valentin. Today, however, he remembered absolutely nothing about the accident in July last year, BNT reported.

Both in court and in front of our camera, Asen Nikolov said that he did not remember anything about the accident on July 14.

Asen Nikolov, witness: "I don't know anything and I don't remember anything, because the pillow hit me and I don't remember anything from there.

BNT: When you found out that you hit people, what did you do?

I was shocked and sat on the sidelines and was shaking all over."

Actually, Asen went to call his grandmother. In court, he stated that he had not known Valentin before, but in his testimony given after the accident, he said something different - that they went for doner kebabs together every day. The two police officers who conducted Valentin's field drug test were also questioned. They confirmed that he tested positive for amphetamines. However, the blood test showed marijuana. A barber was also questioned, who claims that Valentin's mother tried to bribe him.

Dencho Dimitrov, brother of the murdered Assen: "She went and offered a large sum of money to issue a retroactive certificate that he had completed a hairdresser's course."

The video of the accident shows a car entering the oncoming lane and hitting the ATV. The impact sent both men flying, the owner of the ATV survived, and Asen died a few days later in the hospital.

Dencho Dimitrov, brother of the murdered Asen: "He killed not only my brother, he killed our entire family, he took away the right of 3 children to say the word dad."

Due to the presence of drugs in Valentin's blood - the prosecution changed the charge to premeditated murder.

Sokol Nedkov, Valentin's lawyer: "In the judicial investigation, the defense will also collect evidence to assess the guilt, my opinion is that it is not a premeditated crime categorically."

Asen's relatives insist on the maximum sentence.
