A pregnant woman from Sofia has minor injuries. She was pushed and pulled on March 28. Her 39-year-old husband was detained for 72 hours. According to the prosecution, the act was committed under conditions of domestic violence.
Pre-trial proceedings are underway in the case, which provides for a penalty of “deprivation of liberty“. The supervising prosecutor has filed a request with the Sofia District Court to determine a measure of “detention in custody“.
The prosecutor's office reports a growth of over 15% in cases of domestic violence in 2025.
The court panel agreed with the request and imposed the most severe measure of detention. It is subject to appeal before the Sofia City Court.
