A specialized police operation in connection with a change in the security environment is taking place today on the territory of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Razgrad, BTA reported, referring to the spokesperson of the regional police in Razgrad, Iliana Georgieva.
Police and gendarmerie forces are concentrated on the ground in the village of Yasenovets. The objects of the inspections are persons complicit in damaging official vehicles, Georgieva added.
Late yesterday evening on “Dunav“ in the village of Yasenovets, employees of the “Traffic Police” were carrying out their traffic control duties in a Kia company car when they saw a Seat Alhambra coming towards them. The driver accelerates, tries to escape and hide. He was followed by the police officers who flashed a stop light. While trying to escape from the patrol car, the driver left the road on a right turn and crashed into a container and an electric pole, the police spokesman said.
It has been established that the crashed car was driven by a minor and incompetent 17-year-old from the village. While the police officers were working with him, a crowd of over 100 people gathered around them and started swearing, pushing and insulting the officers and making threats, Georgieva added. A police patrol was sent to the scene to assist. The crowd surrounded him, continuing to rage, commented the spokesperson and added that they also started throwing stones, with which the rear window of a company car “Skoda Rapid” was broken, the body was deformed and license plates were removed. On the case, a pre-trial proceeding was initiated and immediate investigative actions were taken. The persons complicit in the committed crimes have been identified.
Over 150 employees from the OD of the Ministry of Internal Affairs-Razgrad and the "Gendarmerie" Directorate continue to work in Jasenovets. The action is aimed at countering crime, protecting public order and ensuring police presence in risky areas. By order of the director of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Razgrad, the operation will continue until the need ceases.
