< strong>The supreme court of cassation will rule within two months in the case against Georgi Semerdzhiev for the accident on the capital's "Cherni vrah" boulevard, in which two young women died in July 2022, BTA reports.
On April 23, the Court of Appeal in Sofia upheld Semerdzhiev's 20-year sentence handed down by the Sofia City Court. However, he appealed the decision by requesting its cancellation and return of the case to the Court of Appeal or amendment of the decision by reducing the penalty.
At today's hearing in the case, Semerdzhiev's defense pleads that his sentence should be revised. “I fully support my defense and ask for a lesser sentence”, the defendant told the supreme judges.
According to the prosecutor's office, it has been indisputably proven that only Semerdzhiev used the car that caused the accident, and asked the court to disregard the defendant's complaints.
