The elderly from the illegal home in Suhodol are expected to be moved to licensed social centers today. Yesterday the illegal home was discovered after a crackdown by the authorities. It housed 8 adults with various illnesses.
The manager of the home Elena Hristova-Kostadinova told bTV that the home had a license, but there was a “documentary lapse“ on her part.
“It did not function without a license. I have a registration certificate from 2015, I have a certificate for providing social activities from 2017. But due to an oversight, a new law from 2020 came into force and I had to submit a certificate to the agency for control of social activities. I did not do it. And that's my mistake“, she pointed out.
“I didn't know, but I didn't have time to look after people. It's negligence on my part“, the manager also said.
Since the beginning of the year, over 500 homes for the elderly have been inspected.
