Today at around 9:30 a.m., a report was filed about a robbery of a woman carrying a bag with a large amount of money. Due to the quick intervention of citizens and the lightning-fast reaction of the police, the act remained unfinished and the perpetrator was detained almost immediately after the act, the deputy head of the First District Department in Sofia, Nikolay Notev, announced during a briefing.
The money was found, seized and will be returned to the lady, he specified.
The lady is an official, works in a hospital. She was performing official duties of depositing money that is negotiable. The amount is over 100,000 leva, the police explained.
The person has been detained. It is a criminal offense. Procedural and investigative actions are being carried out on site.
Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated.
