The prosecutor's office in Vratsa has charged a young man with an accident with two dead children and two others injured. The case dates back to June 15, 2023. At that time, the accused B.H. was 16 years old.
On the evening of June 15, 2023, the teenager was at his uncle's house in the village of Butan, Kozloduy Municipality, together with a group of friends. At midnight, the accused offered the group a ride in his grandfather's car, even though he did not have a driver's license.
B.H. was driving, one of his friends sat in the front seat next to him, and the other five - in the back. None of the passengers in the car were wearing seat belts.
The weather was bad, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The accused was driving with the headlights on and at a high speed - 102 km/h. On the road outside the village, the vehicle spun sideways and crashed into a roadside tree. Two of the passengers managed to get out of the windows and call 112.
Police and medical teams arrived. Four of the passengers were helpless and were removed with the help of fire department personnel. Two of the boys, aged 12 and 15, were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the conclusions of the forensic medical examinations, the cause of the fatal outcome was a combination of trauma and acute massive blood loss, which led to conditions incompatible with life.
The remaining passengers suffered various injuries.
The case is set to continue in court.
