The alleged number 1 smuggler - Nikola Nikolov - Pascal is about to be questioned by the Anti-Corruption Commission, which is leading the investigation. This was learned by bTV from its own sources.
Yesterday, Pascal was handed over to the Bulgarian authorities. Serbia extradited him more than a year after a European arrest warrant was issued for him and 11 months after his detention there.
Nikolov is accused of participating in a criminal group for official misconduct, money laundering, bribery and smuggling in the so-called "Customs" affair.
He is also accused in the same case of the former director of the "Customs" Agency Petya Bankova, the former Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Zhivko Kotsev, as well as Marin and Stefan Dimitrov. All of them are currently out of custody.
The 64-year-old Pascal has never been charged before. He has not been convicted. That's why his name is not known.
However, in recent years he has been linked to cigarette smuggling worth millions.
