The Court of Appeal in Veliko Tarnovo has set a preventive measure of "house arrest" for Julien Kyazimov. He is one of the four young men accused of beating the director of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Ruse, Commissioner Nikolay Kozhuharov, and his neighbor Georgi Dimitrov, BTA reports.

At the beginning of the hearing, the prosecutor from the Veliko Tarnovo Appellate Prosecutor's Office Dimitar Leshtakov said that he supports the ruling "detention in custody" of the District Court in Ruse and pleaded that it not be changed. According to him, the decision of the court in Ruse is in accordance with the collected materials and conclusions of the pre-trial proceedings. He recalled that there are two charges against Julien and there is a risk that he will flee from justice. Kyazimov's defense and the accused himself requested a lighter measure of detention - house arrest or a written statement so that Kyazimov can continue his education, since he is a first-year student.

According to the young man's lawyer, out of 11 witnesses questioned during the pre-trial proceedings, eight were police officers, which means that with a lighter measure he would not be able to influence the witnesses. The court considered new materials and evidence in the case.

Today, the three-member panel of the Court of Appeals, chaired by Kornelia Koleva, will also hear the other three cases for the remaining accused - Kiril Gochev, Viktor Ivanov and the minor Stanislav A. Two of the accused will not be present in the courtroom, they will be represented by their lawyers. A separate case has been opened for each of the four measures, for which separate hearings have been announced. The measures “Detention in custody“, imposed by the District Court in Ruse, are being appealed by the defense of the accused in the Court of Appeal in Veliko Tarnovo.
