The funeral for the writer Kalin Terziyski will be held today at 1:30 p.m. in the Ritual Hall of the Central Sofia Cemetery, dariknews.bg reported.

Kalin Terziyski passed away on January 22, and the sad news was announced by his brother Svetoslav Terziyski.

"Friends, yesterday, on January 22, at 8:00 p.m., my brother Kalin Terziyski passed away. A tormented but great soul left our miserable world. It was cramped for him here, may heaven hold him", his brother wrote on social networks.

A number of relatives, friends, journalists, writers and public figures expressed their condolences to Kalin Terziyski's family on social networks.

The Ministry of Culture pointed out that the writer's work left a deep mark on contemporary Bulgarian literature and culture.

Kalin Terziyski was born on March 22, 1970 in Sofia. In 1988, he graduated from the National School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics “Acad. Lyubomir Chakalov“ with a degree in “Biotechnologies“. At that time, he wrote his first poems in a surrealist style “Poems in the Dark“.

In 1990, Kalin Terziyski enrolled in medicine at the Higher Medical Institute – Sofia, where he graduated in 1996. He specialized in psychiatry at the State Psychiatric Hospital “St. Ivan Rilski“.

Since 1998, Terziyski has been a columnist and commentator in the publications Biograph, Eva, “Club M“, “Egoist“, Sax, “Edno“, AZ, “Savremennik“, “Zhenata dnes“, “Trud“, “24 Chasa“, “Novinar“, “Monitor“, “Standart“, “Gallery“, as well as in many websites.

In 2000, Kalin Terziyski left his job as a doctor and devoted himself entirely to writing. He is a screenwriter for humorous television and radio programs. From 1996 to 2010 he worked as a screenwriter in the shows: “Kvartal“, “Litsa“, “Shash“, “Kanaleto“ (Bulgarian National Television), “Dossieta Hu“ (“Darik Radio“), “Pulna ludnitsa“ (BTV, “Nova Television“).

In 2003 he participated in the conduct of Martin Karbovski's social experiments. In 2006, Kalin Terziyski, together with Martin Karbovski and Angel Konstantinov, founded the literary club “Literature*Dictatorship“. His brother – writer Svetoslav Terziyski.

In March 2010, Terziyski founded, together with a group of screenwriters, the Association of Bulgarian Television Screenwriters and is one of the founders of the Association of Writers in Bulgaria.

In 2009 and 2010, Kalin Terziyski participated in organizing the popular public readings “Reading“, the main organizer of which was the poet Stefan Ivanov.

Kalin Terziyski is the author of novels, collections of short stories and poetry collections. His first solo poetry collection – – “Salt“, was published in 2008, and his first novel – – Alcohol“, co-authored with Deyana Dragoeva – in 2010. He is also the author of the books “Crazy“, “Thought-making“, “The Love of the 35-Year-Old Woman“, “Excitements“, “The Love of the 45-Year-Old Man“, “13 Pieces of Broken Time“, “The Dark Month of July“, “Glory“, “Me and God“, etc.

Texts by Kalin Terziyski have been translated into English, Spanish, Italian, German, Romanian, etc.

Kalin Terziyski has several exhibitions behind him - “Small Pictures. Quiet Sur“ (2018), “First and foremost - freedom“ (2020), “RazPROdažbata“ – a joint project with the artist Teodor Manolov (2023), “And the serious brings pleasure“ (2025), etc.

“I am a person of sudden ideas and insights. They come to me. And I give myself to them.“ &ndquo; &ndquo; shared Kalin Terziyski in an interview with BTA in 2018. “Each of my paintings is from love, for love and in love. I hold exhibitions every two, three years – to show people what my thoughts are at the moment, how far I have come in progress or in general – in the movement of my thought”, the author adds.

Kalin Terziyski was awarded the “First Prize“ for prose from the national humor competition "Haskovo Kaun" in Haskovo. He has been nominated five times for the "Helikon" award for his collections of stories "Is There Anyone to Love You" (2009) and "The Love of the 35-Year-Old Woman" (2010) and for the novels "Alcohol" (2010), "Madness" (2011) and "Noah Gives the Last Instructions to the Animals" (2012). His novel "Alcohol" was awarded in 2010 with the "Flower of Helicon" award - as the best-selling book of the year. In 2011 he was awarded the first European Prize for Literature for Bulgaria - for the collection “Is There Anyone to Love You“. In 2014, Kalin Terziyski was among the first winners of the “Annual Awards 2014“ of the Sofia Library.
