The great singer, composer and poet Mihail Belchev has died, his wife Kristina Belcheva announced to BTA.
Mihail Belchev was born on August 13, 1946 in Sofia. Among his most popular songs are: "Youth is Going Away", "Don't Age Love", "Revelation", "Friendship" and others.
He is a director of television shows and films, including the first television pantomime show "Krgovrat". He is the author of music for theater productions and films. He was the director of the Sofia Library (2008-10 December 2013).
Belchev is the author of the autobiographical book "Increasingly Closer to the Angel" (2024). Winner of the Order of "Cyril and Methodius" first degree (1982), four first prizes from the "Golden" Orpheus" festival (1969, 1984, 1990, 1998), an award for lifetime achievement from the "Golden" Orpheus" festival (1996).
Awarded with the title of "Honored Artist" (1987). First winner of the National Literary Award "Georgi Dzhagarov" of the Union of Bulgarian Writers (July 14, 2004). Winner of the Order of "Stara Planina" first degree (December 12, 2018). Awarded with the title "Honorary Professor of the University of Library Science and Information Technologies" (May 25, 2021). He became an honorary citizen of Sofia in 2004.
