Actress Shelley Duvall, star of the horror film "The Shining", has died at the age of 75, the Associated Press reported.< /p>
The Texas-born star died in her sleep Thursday at her home in Blanco, Texas, her longtime partner Dan Gilroy said.
She died of complications from diabetes, said Gary Springer, her friend and media relations specialist.
Duvall was attending college in Texas when members of director Robert Altman's team met her at a party in Houston in 1970. She met Altman, became his protégé, and appeared in many of his films. In 1980, he played with Jack Nicholson in "The Shining" of Stanley Kubrick.
