Last night the prizes of the film and literature festival "Cinelibri" were handed out, BNT reported.
The only thing more expected than the headlines was the chairman of the jury - the actress Maria Bakalova.
Two major awards and two special awards were presented in the feature and documentary categories. One of the awarded films was dedicated to the Russian poet Eduard Limonov. According to Maria Bakalova, the tape tells how you should focus on the contemporary problems of society. "The Master and Margarita" also received a special award. - a new cinematic reading of the classic work.
Bakalova stood in front of the BNT camera to talk about what impressed her, as well as about the new film in which she has a leading role - "The Intern".
"Maria Bakalova, president of the Cinelibri jury": There was a lot of beauty in the films. There have been many movies that are just literally like paintings. It's nice when projects from different countries with different budgets with different currents are covered - there are romantic, there are dramatic, there is magical realism, there are many things and that was the most difficult thing to choose which of all these films to put in the first place.
BNT: Certainly the film that is also expected in Bulgaria is "The Intern", in which you play the role of Donald Trump's ex-wife. How brave does one have to be to be in a movie like this at this time.
Maria Bakalova: I boldly believe that people should be brave. It is our duty and our duty to be brave, being here with the opportunity to create things that we really care about. You must be brave. The film creates a provocation for conversation, which I think is aerobatic art. If you use your platform to open up a discussion about something that's bigger than you, then you've accomplished your goal, and I think we did. The timing of the film coincided very organically and we took advantage of it.

Maria Bakalova: Daring and responsible.
In the documentary category, the tape was awarded to the American writer William Faulkner, as well as "The Monument of Love" - a film about the Jews from Bulgaria and their fate during the Holocaust.
