In addition to being a leading tourist destination in Bulgaria, Belogradchik is becoming the cultural and musical capital of the country.
In August and the first half of September, the tenth anniversary edition of the festival „Opera of the Peaks“ and the pilot edition of „Scene of the Peaks“ were held on the Belogradchik Rocks, which for 40 days offered fans a rich program with concerts, opera, folklore evenings and special musical events. The stage erected at the foot of the natural phenomenon has become a magical place, where sound, light and emotions have merged into a spectacle never seen before in this place.
Within the two festivals, 17 performances took place, in which over 1,000 performers participated, and the audience was more than 6,000. At each concert, the stands were filled to the brim, and the atmosphere on the stage turned each performance into a unique experience.
The State Opera - Ruse presented six of its productions - the musical “Zorro“, the opera masterpieces “Carmina Burana” “La Traviata“, “Nabucco”, “The Barber of Seville“ and “Mars and Venus: Duels of Voices and Passions“. The program was enriched with “The Three Tenors“ and the opera prima Maria Magdalena.
Miro also toured the stage of the Belogradchik Rocks for the first time. The legendary “Tangra“ and “Diana Express“ brought the audience back to the golden years of Bulgarian music, and the folklore ensembles “Kapanski“ and “Severnyashki ensemble” reminded us of what traditions mean. The program also featured “Singing Artists with the Secret Orchestra“ - a project by Igor Markovski.
The finale of the festivals was particularly memorable. Veselin Marinov took to the stage under the rocks for his first appearance in Belogradchik in his 44-year career. His concert lasted almost two hours, and the packed stands sang along with him. It was a strong end to an event that showed that Belogradchik can combine nature, history and art in a unique way.
The „Opera on the Peaks“ and „Scene on the Peaks“ festivals have established themselves as some of the most significant cultural and musical events in Bulgaria. They have united different genres, generations and musical preferences, turning Belogradchik into a center of attraction for music, culture and performing arts lovers.
