The FBI said it had found DNA in a glove dumped about two miles from the site of the abduction of the mother of famous American TV host Savannah Guthrie, the Associated Press reported.

According to investigators, the glove matches the description of the gloves of the kidnapping suspect and is different from 16 others found so far, most of which belong to participants in the investigation.

The glove, found dumped in a field next to a roadside embankment, has been sent for DNA analysis, the results of which are expected within 24 hours.

Savannah Guthrie's mother - 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie was kidnapped from her home on the outskirts of the city Tucson, Arizona. Last week, a suspect in the kidnapping was also arrested in the southwestern US state.

Traces of blood were found at Nancy Guthrie's home, and police and relatives described her as a woman with limited mobility, in fragile health and requiring daily life support.

The elderly woman's fate is currently unclear.

The mysterious abduction has sparked widespread media interest in the United States.
