The Taliban conducted a mass flogging of 63 people in a sports stadium for crimes ranging from “running away from home&rdquo ; to “disrespect”, NOVA reported.
The disturbing criminal event took place on Tuesday in Sar-e-Pul, northern Afghanistan. On it, 48 men and 15 women were beaten between 15 and 39 times.
In addition to physical abuse, some victims received sentences that included prison terms of between six months and five years.

This is the largest group since 2021 to be publicly flogged at a Taliban event. Local media reported that some residents shockingly approve of flogging, believing it will reduce crime.
According to authorities, the individuals who received the harsh punishment were arrested by security forces for crimes including “running away from home, armed robbery, adultery, sodomy and disrespect”.
