Weinstein, 72, was hospitalized in July after testing positive for COVID-19 and developing bilateral pneumonia. He also suffers from diabetes, high blood pressure, spinal stenosis, fluid in his heart and lungs.
Earlier this year, an appeals court overturned his 2020 conviction for rape and sexual assault. This decision caused outrage among followers of the #MeToo movement, despite the fact that Weinstein remains in prison because of a sentence handed down by a court in California.
