Today, September 11, is the unofficial World Conspiracy Day of the conspiracy theorists, writes the German newspaper Abendzeitung Munchen, quoted by duma.bg.
A whole 23 years after the attacks on the Twin Towers in New York, the fantasies surrounding this horrific event that took the lives of 3,000 people continue. Germany is among the strongholds of the self-proclaimed critical spirits who believe that the "traditional media" have misled the public.
There is no dispute: journalists deceive, present one-sided information, conduct campaigns in favor of this or that. But the media as supporters of a world conspiracy - this is absurd. This is also true of September 11, 2001, which has been documented and studied more than any other day in history.
However, this cannot sway the conspiracy theory community. A veritable industry has long since developed that trades in the seductive doubt of the "overly simple explanation"; dubious book publishers enrich their assortment with dozens of titles in which "The lie behind 9/11" is revealed. They mock the "gullible", point to semi-scientific facts and pseudoscience, and their source is almost always Google.
"The Experts" make bold claims that, for example, the World Trade Center could not have collapsed without explosives planted (not true), that there were no Jewish victims (not true), that the killers were not on the passenger lists (not true) , that the Pentagon did not shoot down any planes (not true), that Flight 93 did not crash, but landed safely in a US Air Force hangar (not true).
