A New York court denied bail to American rapper and producer P. Diddy (real name Sean Combs) until his sentencing, Fox News reported.

The prosecution insisted that Combs remain in custody, claiming that if he is released, he can leave the country, as he has the means to do so.

According to NBC News, the sentencing date has been set for October 3, but the rapper's lawyers may request an earlier date. Prosecutors expect P. Diddy to be sentenced to about 5 years in prison.

Earlier on Wednesday, a jury found the rapper guilty on two counts of transporting people for the purpose of prostitution, but acquitted him of more serious crimes that could send him to life in prison - extortion and human trafficking.

In September last year, P. Diddy was detained in a New York court after a jury indicted him on charges of violence and human trafficking. From 2023 since then he has been accused of violence and extortion several times.

The biggest public outcry came after the rapper's ex-girlfriend, singer Cassandra Ventura, filed a lawsuit.
