Ghislaine Maxwell, convicted of aiding financier Jeffrey Epstein, has been moved to another correctional facility out of fear for her life after receiving death threats from other inmates, the Daily Mail reports.
A US Bureau of Prisons official confirmed that Maxwell had been moved from a federal prison in Florida to Camp Bryan in Texas.
„Ghislaine Maxwell was moved to another prison under cover of night after rapists and murderers bombarded her with death threats for being an “snitch“, the newspaper reports.
It is noted that the decision to move was taken after Maxwell answered new questions in detail from investigators. The Texas prison is an all-female facility that houses a different category of inmates than the Florida prison.
USA Today reported that Maxwell's transfer took place “quietly”, without any public statements from the U.S. Department of Justice or the Bureau of Prisons. According to the newspaper, Maxwell's lawyers are currently seeking a review of her sentence in the Supreme Court and are negotiating with Trump to pardon or commute her sentence in exchange for cooperation in the “Epstein” case.
The U.S. president has previously said he has the right to pardon Ghislaine Maxwell, but has not yet considered it. Last week, the woman's lawyer, David Marcus, said that during her re-interview with Deputy U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanch, she answered all questions related to about 100 people. In 2022, Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
