The US authorities have announced the sale of the confiscated yacht “Amadea“, which allegedly belongs to the Russian billionaire and MP Suleiman Kerimov, for auction, the NBC News television channel reported.
According to the information, the auction, at which the confiscated yacht “Amadea“ with a length of over 100 meters will be presented, will be held on September 10. The organizer of the auction is the National Maritime Service, which has moved “Amadea“ from Fiji to the port of San Diego (California).
The expected value of the vessel is about $ 325 million, it can accommodate 16 passengers and 36 crew members. The yacht is equipped with a swimming pool, a gym, several cabins and a helipad. Those wishing to participate in the auction will have to make a deposit of $ 10 million.
The Fijian authorities detained the yacht in April 2022 after it entered the state's exclusive economic zone without proper permission. Local law enforcement agencies began work to identify the owner of the vessel and its port, stating that according to preliminary data, the yacht belongs to Russian citizen Kerimov.
The US Department of Justice sent a warrant for its seizure, after which the yacht was detained. On June 7, 2022, the Fijian Supreme Court authorized U.S. Department of Justice officials to seize the yacht.
