Denis Zabelin, a Russian who travels the world, visited various villages in Tajikistan and explained the origin of the unpleasant sour smell from local women.
He shared the details in his blog “Life on the Move“ on the Zen platform.
The author of the publication noted that he often felt this smell when visiting Tajik houses, but was ashamed to ask directly. Later, he still managed to find an explanation for this. It turns out that Tajik women carefully monitor the condition of their hair and, in the absence of shampoos and other care products, use dairy products. That is where the sour smell comes from, although they themselves have not felt it for a long time.
